Product development in the KranLabor
Our product development is located in Gummersbach-Lantenbach – the birthplace of innovative ideas that make our cranes better quality and more cost-effective. In the crane laboratory, innovations and variants are thoroughly tested and put through their paces.
Overview of the location
At our site in Gummersbach-Lantenbach, we focus on innovation and progress to continuously develop our cranes and hoists. The ABUS KranLabor research and development centre was opened in 2022. A team of highly qualified engineers, technicians and inventors work here on powerful, innovative and safe crane solutions.
The CraneLab offers our developers extensive resources, including test laboratories, simulation options and a 5,700 m² test field, including an 11-metre-high test stand for wire rope hoists. This centre enables us to gain practical experience, carry out long-term tests and test innovations directly on real cranes.
In addition to performance, innovation and safety, an important focus of all our developments is sustainability. All new developments are therefore designed in such a way that they can be seamlessly integrated into our existing product range, while guaranteeing high efficiency and a long service life. A central element here is the cranes' modular design. Modular construction methods enable individual assemblies to be used flexibly and efficiently. This flexible use requires not only modern software but, above all, interdisciplinary thinking on the part of our engineers. This is how we ensure that we not only meet current requirements, but also proactively tackle future challenges to improve crane technology. In parallel with product innovations, we are continuously working on the further development of our production facilities in order to achieve holistic innovative progress.
